Mahny and Robbie

( by Mahny Djahanguiri )
Surprisingly enough (...or maybe not …) my company Dogamahny TM has seen an influx (50 percent ) in ticket sales purchased between July and Dec 2017 .These figures will triple in the next coming months .

But what about our furry feline companions ?Here's how your cat can work out

Our main customer /client are beginner yoga students & non-dog owners .
This goes to show that DOG YOGA or DOGA-yoga For You and Your Dog is no longer a niche and a " crazy concept" but a commercial mainstream yoga phenomena like BIKRAM was in 2010-2015 .
The answer is simple : DOGS make us feel special. DOGS don't judge unlike some yoga studios .

Market Research has proven that "Newcomers to yoga " find-doing yoga in a non-yogic environment less threatening then going to a yoga studio.

We have VOUGUA which runs above a Fish and Chip Shop in Dalston , BROGA which is part of the Royal Vauxhall Tavern and BEER YOGA which is part of any local pub ....

Maybe choosing to go for your first yoga lesson that entails going to a " slick" yoga studio with some snotty receptionist awaiting your money with a half hearted Nama-stay - and — now-go , as you make your way upstairs yoga session with 27 stressed out yogis in a broom cupboard oozing more vitriol and competitiveness then Donald Trump on twitter .…Err.… ...Less ...compelling?

DOGA enables newcomers to chill , relax and aim for less .

Doga is simply.… More fun!

Dogs usually await us at reception with a warm hearted "woof " or lick without asking for credit card details or your e-mail address. If your lucky, you get the chance to see a quick demo of " cock the leg" as you inhabit and roll our your yoga .Dogs do a paw-some " Tripod Down-dog " which frankly puts Shiva Rea to shame .( if only Shiva Rea owned a pair of piddle friendly doggie yoga pants designed by Dogamahny TM)

Yes, ...doga gets messy. SO WHAT! Isn't that the aim of yoga to deal with our own shit ?

Especially in this day and age of "WAR OF THE HAND STANDS " curtesy of Instagram, I frankly cant watch another video of some dudess on a beach in South End performing yet another yoga pose calling it " bliss " whens its plain obvious that she's freezing her nuts off. Wear some clothes , woman !
Instagram promotes too many inversions and not enough layers.

The new YOGA practitioner doesn't want "yoga snobbery ".What they want is to SHARE.
They want to interact and be part of a community and go away with a sense of purpose of belonging .They want to feel like they have done some yoga , but not so much that they had to sweat and need a shower.
The new yoga client is frankly quite lazy and a bit bored of stretching.

Modern day yoga newbies don't want sweat .… They want to be liked and like others. Familiar ?Dogs help to break the ice .You might even get yourself a date.Dogs gets you a date and possible even a new dog !!!!
Watch out for next years DOGA ADOPTION DAY.
People share each others dogs , so non-dog owners can have a go at taking care and petting something sentient and living ....…AND you learn yoga from a certified yoga teacher who doesn't know how to do FUCKING handstand ... isn't that amazing ?
Because guess what , handstands don't make you happy... headstands do !
And because we are all crap at yoga needn't worry about that your flexibility either.
You can now focus your mind on your breath , your calm and your dog .
Dogs want to participate because they sense our joy and ease not our distress and competitiveness.
They sense our vulnerability and need to be loved just like us ... and thats frankly YOGA. A two way stream. An Interaction not an addiction.
Lets aim for all yoga teachers and studios to become more welcoming and real like our dogs .Spend less time on Instagram and more time on the mat. Adopt , borrow or steal a dog and join doga.

Last DOGA SESSION with Mahny : 30 TH OCT. 630-8pm

Miami Hurricane IRMA -Is there hope for our Yogis and Dogis?

I feel very emotional reading about Hurricane Irma sweeping over Florida with life -threatening wind , storm surge and flooding up to 20 inches.
What exactly is 20 inches? Thats almost the hight of my dog standing on his hind legs begging for treats …

Even tough I never met Florida based. DOGA founder Suzy Teitelman in person (She is the think tank and visionary behind americas latest yoga trend ) I send out my warmest gratitude and heart felt prayers tonight.
Without you Suzy there would be no DOGA. This is why I’m writing this to you.

Suzy Teitelman Arab started the trend in 2001 in NY and its obvious to me from your pictures and videos that you adore your dogs and your dogs adore you .
Thats how Doga was created . through LOVE .
And isn’t LOVE what brings us home? Isn’t LOVE what makes us resilient to survive because we have LIFE?
Man holds onto many treasures but the most important treasure he holds onto is LIFE.

Tonight I’m praying for you … I hope you find strength to guide you and make you and your dogs and your family members safe.

Tonight Im praying for all the dogs and cats of Miami that will endure this devastating storm . Whoever survives may be the lucky one.
I hope that Miami has had enough preparation to have gathered together in unison and form enough shelters to survive . I hope they’ll be enough shelters for our beloved pets and ALL animals.

I can’t stop thinking that this reminds me of the great flood described in the bible. I wish Noah’s Arc would come along and rescue all sentient living beings .
Suzy , I hope you read this . Your a shinning light and an inspiration for us all .May God bless you and don’t forget … if you look after dogs you look after God. For Dog reverse means God .

International Doga Day 2017 – Dogs raise a paw against Yulin

Sunday 18th June

Hampstead Heath

London dogs and their owners gathered together on the Heath for a “ Dog Yoga “ session in celebration International Yoga Day on the 21 st June which falls on the same day as The Yulin Dog Meat Festival in China .

The dog yoga flashmob was conducted and lead by Mahny Djahanguiri , UK’s leading founder and teacher of DOGA and recent Britain’s Got Talent contestant .

(Doga is a yoga practice in which humans can incorporate their dogs large and small and benefit equally . )

Robbie her canine sidekick, famously known for peeing in David Walliams Shoes during their Britains Got Talent audition in 2017 kindly supported by showing off some serious doga moves like the” HOT DOG “ for example.

Mahny is relentlessly campaigning against the Asian dog meat trade and has recently visited ( with Robbie ) the adoption rehabilitation centre in Sherman Oaks , Los Angeles . This centre is ran Animal Hope and Wellness Foundation

Together with him and thousands of other campaigners she is raising money support his efforts in rehabilitating the most traumatised dogs from the Asian dog meat trade especially our Yulin dogs .

One of Mahny’s regular doga client, Phillip Elliot who travelled across London with his Fox Terrier- Humphrey and brought along with him members of the fox terrier dog walk society

says ; “Even though it was sweltering hot- it was great fun ! we managed to get our dogs through an amazing 90 min session which went surprisingly well .. supported with litres of water for our dogs and humans .

“It helped that Mahny asked us gather in a one minute silence at the end of the class to remember what we came for ! “

Another Yoga Teacher , Candice from North London saus : “I borrowed my aunt’s dog today- A lurcher – who enjoyed his first ever yoga session immensely ! “

Mahny expected well over 30 londoners showing up for this class . But she had doubts too . “ I thought everyone would drop out in this heat but they all soldiered on for a good cause .

Everyone looked so beautiful and relaxed with dogs wrapped in wet blankets – it brought a tear to my eye !

Mahny is in her second year of organising and leading international Doga day . She wants International Doga day ( which will fall each year on the sunday before International Yoga Day ) to be an official day to remember the dogs of Yulin . Her vision is to expand International yoga on a global scale day and triple the amount of participants for next years 2018.

Doga recently went viral when Mahny and Robbie auditioned for Britains Got Talent and managed to get the judges Simon , Amanda and David involved spot of doga with their canine beloved . It went viral in with 2.5 million viewers sharing our audition . This of course helps and encourages people to become more aware of the Chinese dog meat trade which is 365 Days a year . Sadly Yulin festival will go ahead regardless of its 12 million petitions signed . People are furious and passionate about their dogs and animals in general . Doga is a wonderful tool to communicate our love for our dogs and our passion for yoga which brings forth love peace and harmony with nature .. which is exactly what we all want !

Behind the Scene of BGT

It was an absolute delight to watch my audition last night on ITV …surrounded by friends and loved ones.

Robbie and I were such a hit especially with Robbie’s fatal accident. To be honest I was concerned how producers would edit my audition as quite a few things happened which weren’t shown …. all I can say is David Williams got what he deserved .

Since we all know that David likes humping Stephen from Britain’s Got More Talent what you guys don’t know is that David also tried in on with another judge  during my audition. The crowd was roaring and cheering and I couldn’t hear the music .

But David found karmic retribution in the form of little white fur ball Robbie.

See… the thing is Robbie doesn’t like to be upstaged… Hes a bit of a diva in is own right.

I must admit I was gobsmacked when I saw David advertise my new book  DOGA  , which indeed entails 155 pages of yoga sequences and postures which you can practice with your smaller size pooch. You can purchase my new book ,  DOGA  yoga for you and your dog (Hamlyn 2015) on Amazon and its also available on kindle . Once you seen how beneficial doga can be for you and your dog , why dont you pop round to my Camden classes on Sunday at The Pirate Castle. It’ll be a hoot.

On another note , Amanda was lovely . I don’t know why comedians of age 8 call her a dog , she is one of the loveliest , friendliest celebrities on this planet. He had a bit of a chat on stage and she in awe of Robbie and Doga.

Simon was of course very smart and sweet and gave me two kisses on the cheek.

More on that in another blog.

As for David , Robbie says “sorry “.

As for me …. I think we are even .
